Quality Standards

The testing and review bar every calculator clears before and after publishing.

This is the quality bar every calculator has to clear, both before it is published and afterward.

Before publishing

  • Formula check. The formula and its constants are verified by hand against the source they come from.
  • Worked examples. Eric runs the calculator against hand-calculated examples, including typical cases and edge cases such as blank, zero, negative or impossible input.
  • Review. Michael Steve reviews the data, the formula and the written page before it goes live.

After publishing

  • Reader corrections. If a reader reports an error through our corrections process, Madelynne checks it against the source and we fix it.
  • Periodic review. Pages are revisited when a reader flags an issue, or when the underlying standards, tools or market conditions change.
  • Planning ranges stay labeled. Cost and price figures are always shown as planning ranges, never presented as a quote or a guarantee.

This is the practical, day-to-day version of our editorial policy and the process described in our methodology.
