Corrections

How to report an error, and what happens after you report one.

Calculators are only useful if the numbers behind them are right, so here is exactly what happens when you report one that isn’t.

How to report an error

Use our contact form and choose “Correction or bug.” Tell us the page, what you expected, and what the calculator showed instead. The more specific you are, the faster we can check it.

What happens next

  1. Madelynne reviews the report and checks it against the formula and the source it came from.
  2. If it is a genuine error, we fix it and, where it matters, note what changed.
  3. If the number is correct but the explanation was unclear, we rewrite the explanation instead.
  4. If a number only looks wrong because of local conditions (such as a cost range or a seeding recommendation), we explain why it is a range rather than a single figure.

How long it takes

We aim to respond within a few business days. Corrections to a formula or a clear factual error are prioritized over wording suggestions.

This is the day-to-day version of what our editorial policy and quality standards describe.
